Got to Dump that Old Computer?...
RECYCLE!
Quantum Connections, a nonprofit in the Twin Cities and central Minnesota, is appealing for computers to be sent to selected sites in Africa and South America. It has links with a number of centers and institutions that need them. They might be used to equip vocational training centers for unemployed youth, they can be put in a classroom, they can equip an office whose staff are working on development or on justice and peace issues. They will open people's minds through the internet and facilitate communication worldwide.
| Rather than leaving computers you no longer need taking up valuable space or not wishing to trash them (or pay a fee for their disposal), donate them and give them a second life. Quantum Connections is a 501 (c) 3 so you may even find that your donation is tax deductible.

We are currently accepting mostly laptop computers from individuals and corporations. Also needed are printers and software and other peripherals.
Eventually we accept Pentium desktop models to attend special request from our international partners.
Quantum Connections takes care to ensure that these computers are used for the purposes for which they are intended. Shipping costs are high so donations of dollars are also needed.

Can you imagine that a tool like a computer that costs perhaps the equivalent of a month's salary here in the US would cost the equivalent of two years' salary in most African countries?
