Who We Are?
What do We Do?
Quantum Connections is a registered nonprofit in Minnesota. It makes a contribution to the creation of a more just and sustainable world through creating partnerships across the globe between people in institutions from the developed and developing world. It has a diverse, international Board, including people both from and with experience of living and working in the developing world.
At this point in the history of the world, when relationships are strained, and suspicion and fear are widespread, it more important than ever that we try to learn more about each other and that we seek out opportunities to discover people from other cultures and faiths.

The features of Quantum Connections
- Partnership. Partners come together for as short a period as one or two weeks unlike some organizations that insist on must longer encounters; that people can travel to suit their own timetable and not have to wait until teams are ready at prescribed times; and that different individual skills and experience canusually be match to particular needs and are not centered on one particular task. Partners in the developing world make requests and accept responsibility for Partners coming from another part of the globe.
- Continuity. Once the initial visit has been made, if partners, both the traveler and the host, see the possibility of forging an ongoing relationship, then Quantum Connections Board takes responsibility to see that an ongoing Global Partnership is formed. There is value in the exchange that has already occurred, but even greater benefit if contact is maintained and other Global Partners travel to the same site and continuing support is provided.
- Quantum Development. This means that the possibilities of a single Global Partnership cannot be determined in advance. A Partner returning to his/her home country can persuade any number of people to be involved in a variety of ways. The behavior of 'quanta' isimpossible to measure or predict with absolute certainty and has any number of potential outcomes.Particular Global Partnerships can become semi-autonomous, thus freeing the resources of Quantum Connections to pursue other contacts.
- Communication. Computers are seen as an important tool for communication and for learning. In the developed world it is becoming difficult to dispose of them; in the developing world they are beyond the means of the vast majority. Thus Quantum Connections tries to put refurbished machines in the hands of all its Partners, either for individual use formuch broader purposes.
